Snow Boarding – Snowboarding history
Snowboarding is a great sport played by people of all ages. Children love playing the sport due to its related excitement and fun, while others follow the sport as a passion. The sport is truly exciting especially for people who love speed and sliding from the high snow covered mountains. However, there have been some controversies encircling the snowboarding history.
It is really difficult navigating back to the history of the sport as there have been many people who claim to have invented the sport. Here are a few people who had claimed to have invented the sport.
- The first person known to have discovered the sport is Tom Sims. He had invented the sport some time near in 1963 and had made his first snowboard using plywood. Sims was in his 8th grade when he crafted his snowboard in the shop class and eventually named it as Ski board.
- Another person known to have discovered snowboarding is Sherman Poppen. It was about 1965 when Poppen he designed his first snowboard. He called it as snurfer and crafted the board by bolting together two skis. He also attached a rope to help the rider maintain his balance when surfing the snow.
- The next person from the snowboarding history to have discovered the sport is Jake Burton Carpenter. Burton started designing snowboards in 1979 using fiberglass and also added ropes to maintain a balance when sliding on the snow. The primary design was later advanced by making use of steel edges at the sides.
